1950’s Asian Chinoiserie Leather/Glass Top - Carved Wood Drum/Side Table
This is an Asian drum – it has a hand carved wooden base with leather/animal skin top that is secured by metal tacks/rivets. A piece of round glass protects the skin top and allows the piece to be used as a side table if desired. It is in very good vintage condition (approximately 75 years old).
History of the piece: This is from the estate of the original owner who was a retired military officer that traveled extensively around the world during his years of service. He brought many interesting pieces, like these drums, back home as a remembrance of his time abroad.
Note: Found a similar pieces online but the priceruns $700 to $1,000 per drum.
